On the occasion of The Venice Glass Week, Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo opens its exhibition rooms to two great glass artists, both trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice: Michela Cattai and Antonio Dei Rossi.

Michela Cattai with her exhibition In Charoscuro. Oltre la Luce e l’Ombra homages one of the greatest artists of sixteenth-century Venetian painting – Jacopo Tintoretto. In his three works, the artist focuses in particular on the deep irregular grinding of the surfaces of the artworks, which goal is the imitation of the rapid and decisive brushstrokes characteristic of Tintoretto’s painting.
This technique creates a play of light and volume that suites perfectly the swirling sketch of the Paradise by Jacopo Robusti, created in preparation for the decoration of the Sala del Maggior Consiglio of the Palazzo Ducale (1582).

Antonio dei Rossi, instead, dedicates his exhibition to the Contemporary Figurative Murrine, obtained through the use of one of the most refined techniques of Venetian glass art, of which he is the sole and final creator. The artist uses the history of Murano glass art for creating contemporary works that combine tradition and innovation.
