Giorgio Morandi – Segni nel tempo

The exhibition promoted by the Galleria d’Arte Maggiore in Bologna (G.A.M.) and set up in the hall of Palazzo Contarini adjoining the famous Scala del Bovolo from October 18 to November 26, presents a series of etchings of master Giorgio Morandi.

The exhibition highlights the artist’s ability to master the engraving technique as well as the pictorial one: Morandi began to produce engravings already since 1910, and later on he also exhibited his engravings to the international public of biennial 1928. He is considerated like one of the greatest incisors of the twentieth century.

The collection of engravings proposed at the Bovolo staircase examines the main themes that have characterized the Morandian work: the landscapes of his hometown, the refined flower pots and especially those still-life characterized by the search for a perfect balance between delicate signs and intense chiaroscuros.
