Jean Tinguely always said that “the only stable thing was movement”. It is from the artist’s famous statement that the exhibition starts, hosted in Palazzo Contarini. In fact, the exhibition offers the varied research conducted by the artists involved on one of the most current languages: kinetic and time-based art.

The Complesso dell’Ospedaletto opens its rooms in occasion of the 58th International Art Exhibition. In this place full of history, the artists involved had the opportunity to create real “art rooms”, giving vent to their narrative experiments and activating an effective dialogue between classic and contemporary.

This collateral event of the 58th International Art Exhibition ( tackles the urgent issue of climate change. A serious problem for the whole world but especially for a city like Venice, subject to rising sea levels. In fact, the exhibition aims to generate a reflection on the fragility of nature and human life.

The Zitelle Church hosts the exhibition of Lidia León, an artist born and raised in the Dominican Republic, who reflects on social issues, such as intolerance, shortcomings and cultural diversity. His works are particularly intended to stimulate the critical consciousness of the new generations, so as to make young people aware citizens of the world.

The Armenian Narine Arakelian transforms Contarini staircase into a multicolored lighthouse through the use of modern plexiglass sheets, inserted between the arches dating back to the fifteenth century. Narine’s installation dialogues perfectly with the polychrome glass and crystal objects, made by Abate Zanetti’s Murano studio, exhibited in the rooms.

Palazzo Contarini hosts the presentation of the book “Il tempo delle ciliegie” by Gianlivio Fasciano. A coming-of-age novel whose protagonist is Rodolfo, a man driven to retrace his life following the death of his father. A reflective novel that pushes the reader to question the consequences of daily choices that condition, however, the entire existence.
